An unknown kiwi software development success
Thu, 18th Jul 2013
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Recently we investigated the history of kiwi software developer Javelin and we suggest you read the original story first here.

In this story however, we explain the companies products.

Javelin is a kiwi company focused on developing order processing and field management software.

Its field management system, Core, is used by the likes of Metrix, the meter reading division of Mighty River Power, and Rinnai Australia. It is suitable for businesses undertaking a large roll out, as well as those that have large numbers of contractors or people out in the field.

The software came into its own for Metrix when the company wanted to deliver and install smart meters for its customers.

The field service management software solution enables contractors to check where they need to be each morning from their vans, rather than having to go in to the office to check routes and rosters. They are also able to keep track of supplies needed, order them and have them couriered to home.

Additional benefits include the capacity to allow sub contractors to take evidential photos so that the main contractor can confirm work has been done, as well as letting management see at a top level the delivery times, that service level agreements are being met and the work that has been completed. Core can be delivered as a service from the cloud or is available as an on site solution.

Pulse is a version of Core that is suitable for smaller firms, for example an electrical company with five vans out in the field.

Data is displayed in real time so that the latest transactions, events and notifications are available immediately they occur.  Pulse is only available as a cloud solution and is charged on a per person per month basis.

Motion is Javelin's inventory and order management solution which has found a niche in the printing industry. However, it is breaking out of that niche with parent company, IT distributors Connector Systems, also using the software to track its inventory and process orders.

It has a range of benefits including improving productivity, allowing business to add new products and providing enhanced visibility. Like Core, Javelin's other enterprise solution, Motion is available either on site or in the cloud.

Flux is the smaller brother version of Motion and offers business-to-business inventory and order management. It is a system that IT resellers could use, for example. The software includes a warehouse management system, or will seamlessly link to a businesses existing system.

Bringing all the software systems together is Fusion, which can best be described as middleware. Fusion can be placed between two different accounting systems, for example, and allows data to flow between the two seamlessly, reducing the need for rekeying of information.

With each of these product offerings Javelin is pointing businesses in the right direction.
