New Zealand's strong ICT sector ranked 17th on global index

New Zealand's ICT sector is strong and vibrant, ranking 17th out of 139 countries, according to the World Economic Forum's Global Information Technology Report.

New Zealand is 17th place in the Networked Readiness Index, ranking the country just one place above Australia, which falls in at 18th place.

The index, which is broken down into five sub-indexes and ten specific pillars, ranks New Zealand number one in three separate categories including judicial independence and the number of days to start a business, but comes in at 100th place for Internet - telephony competition. Statistics from the report show New Zealand's highest and lowest rankings out of 139 countries in each category.
