Lenovo ISG appoints Kumar Mitra as ANZ & CAP Managing Director
Thu, 7th Mar 2024

Lenovo Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) has recently undergone a significant corporate reshuffle with the appointment of Kumar Mitra as its newest ANZ lead. Effective immediately, Mitra will assume the role of Managing Director, Australia-New Zealand (ANZ) for Lenovo's Infrastructure Solutions Group (ISG) business.

Alongside his responsibility for ANZ, Mitra will also serve as Managing Director for the Central Asia Pacific (CAP). This move showcases Lenovo's intention to enhance its emphasis on the infrastructure solutions business across both markets, which are key for the company's growth and expansion plans.

Bringing three decades of experience in technology optimisation and sales to Lenovo, Mitra's formidable background situates him as a potential catalyst for change within the organisation. His professional journey includes spending half of his career building high performance computing teams. Furthermore, before his transition to Lenovo earlier this year, Mitra acted as a director for OEM sales, Asia Pacific at Nutanix.

Mitra takes over this crucial role from John McCloskey, moving the company forward with his insights and expertise. Sumir Bhatia, President, AP ISG, commented on this leadership transition, saying “With Kumar at the helm for ANZ, I am certain that we will continue to drive intelligent digital transformation for our customers and partners. We thank John for establishing a strong growth foundation during his time at Lenovo, and I look forward to seeing Kumar work with our ANZ ISG leadership team to build upon our ongoing successes in the region.”

Mitra’s new role will involve guiding the business growth strategy for both regions, aligning their operations with Lenovo’s vision of ‘Smarter Technology For All’. Reflecting this, Mitra shared his enthusiasm for this new chapter, saying, “I am honoured to be expanding my role to ANZ and CAP for Lenovo ISG. This is an exciting time where we’re focused on driving a new era of IT – bringing AI to the data and providing smarter infrastructure solutions. This is so our customers and partners fulfil their potential through technology, and benefit from greater efficiency and reliability. I am excited to have the opportunity to lead our teams in both CAP and ANZ on this journey.”

Lenovo's decision to appoint Kumar Mitra stems from the organisation's determination to promote a more inclusive, trustworthy, and smarter future for technology. As a company that employs over 1,500 people across all business units and serves thousands of customers across the region, Lenovo's hopes for a stronger, more forward-thinking digital presence are pinned on Mitra's leadership.
