NZ startup CodeLingo secures $540k funding from Australian VCs

FYI, this story is more than a year old

CodeLingo has announced the completion of a $540,000 seed investment round with Australian venture capital firms Reinventure and Right Click Capital, part of the Draper Venture Network.

The funds will be used to enhance CodeLingo's proprietary technologies, bolster the team's talent, and scale its business operations in 2018.

CodeLingo is a platform which enables users to scale end-to-end software development processes that improve code quality.

Patterns across the whole development process can be seen and defined to automate functions such as code reviews, real-time crash debugging, and continuous feedback via the developer's IDE (Integrated Development Environment).

CodeLingo aims to streamline manual QA processes to dramatically reduce the time, risks and costs often associated with scaling software development teams.

CodeLingo CEO Jesse Meek says, “Software development has outgrown the engineering analogy for quite some time now.

“However, still too many code quality tools assume generic engineering style coding rules and workflows. In practice, teams typically develop their own coding norms and processes, which don't get picked up by Linters and other code quality tools, and often get passed on informally.

“This approach breaks in larger teams, and particularly in an increasingly open source world of highly- distributed developer communities. CodeLingo is empowering teams to codify their own norms at scale,” Meek says.

Reinventure managing partner Simon Cant says, "The problem of coordinating distributed development teams at scale is more pressing than ever. CodeLingo has really seen around a corner with this platform."

Right Click Capital Partner Garry Visontary says, “We are excited to back CodeLingo, as it's a great example of a startup that provides a holistic solution for teams to track, measure and manage their software development, at scale.

“The platform streamlines software development, letting developers write high-quality code faster. Right Click Capital's funding also gives CodeLingo the opportunity to tap into our partnership with the Draper Venture Network.

Since its inception in 2016, CodeLingo has developed a new approach to safeguard code-quality, and has been working with a group of early alpha clients in 2017 to refine and tailor the platform to meet clients' needs.
