FYI, this story is more than a year old

Local managed security firm SecOps has opened a new Cyber Defence Operations Centre in Auckland's Parnell,

Privacy Commissioner John Edwards officially opened the centre this week, recognising SecOps' efforts to provide managed security services to New Zealand businesses.

SecOps New Zealand general manager Diljit Bolla says intelligent, automated centre reflects the company's commitment to providing 24/7 service every day of the year. This comes after strong customer growth and the company's focus on helping customers get the basics of cybersecurity right.

“The ISO/IEC 27001:2013 certified Cyber Defence Operations centre is driven by an NZ-based combined defensive and offensive security team,” explains Bolla.

“The unique services we've pioneered in New Zealand are the result of combining industry-leading solutions with local expertise and 24/7, 365 security operations.

“It's a philosophy that's seen us gain the trust and confidence of clients across New Zealand, so we've got the experience and client base to back up our value proposition. With the expanded capacity, the Cyber Defence Operations Centre gives us a future-fit approach to adapt to the evolving threat landscape and needs of New Zealand organisations.

The centre will play a critical role in identifying threats and risks against clients' people, processes, and technology – and after a couple of years of strong growth, Bolla says the company's services have matured to optimise threat detection and automate threat response.

He adds that SecOps not only focuses on security event identification, triage, and investigation but also helps to provide a response so that customers and analysts can be more precise about protecting targets and assets.

SecOps has future plans to launch similar Cyber Defence Operations functionality in Wellington.

“The Cyber Defence Operations has introduced a range of new technologies to augment the intelligence of our security analysts, including artificial intelligence to facilitate contextual and autonomous response, enabling our Cyber Defence Operations to detect and quickly respond to cybersecurity threats. We're extremely proud of the continued investment in our people and the development of security talent in New Zealand.

The company has also been busy adding new strings to its bow, particularly with the acquisition of risk management firm Prima Solutions. In July 2020, SecOps acquired the to add risk assessment and management services to its capabilities.

Bolla said at the time, “Risk management, threat management and governance are critical to the effective safeguarding of most organisations assets. We've wanted to increase the level of service we offer in this area for some time and Prima Solutions significantly boosts our capability to deliver assessments and consulting services across the risk management field.
