Spark deploys its 'fastest' UFB service to most of NZ
Mon, 5th Dec 2016
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Spark has made its Ultra Fast Fibre MAX broadband service available to its customers.

Delivered over gigabit technology, the telco says its new plan option is the fastest residential service that it has to offer. The actual speed a customer will get varies based on a number of factors.

According to the telco, to get the fastest speeds possible, customers will need to have high specification hardware in their homes and be testing over an Ethernet connection.

Ultra Fast Fibre MAX should provide speeds of between 700Mbps and 900Mbps download / 400Mbps upload.

In trials, even higher speeds have been achieved of up to 930Mbps.

Ultra Fast Fibre MAX is available to purchase nationwide for consumer and business addresses where the Ultra Fast Broadband (UFB) network is available - with a few exceptions.

Queenstown, Greymouth, Oamaru and Whakatane don't yet have access to the service, as work is being undertaken to ensure that the network is ready to support the speeds.

Otherwise, any customer with UFB available can purchase Ultra Fast Fibre Max: availability can be checked using Spark's address checker.

All consumer Spark Ultra Fibre plans come with Lightbox, Spark Security Suite, email, free 24/7 help and support and lots more benefits for Spark customers.

Customers will need a high-spec modem that is capable of supporting these types of speeds, such as the Huawei HG659b from Spark

Spark also advises that customers ensure all their laptop or PC's drivers are up to date and nothing else is running on the internet connection at the same time.
