Vodafone and Spark announce availability dates for latest iPhones

New Zealand will be one of the first places in the world the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus will be available, with Spark and Vodafone announcing their pre-order dates.

Spark customers will be able to pre-order iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus beginning at 7.01 PM this evening, September 15, on the Spark website, and the device will be available on Friday, 22 September.  

"Kiwis wait with great anticipation every year for the launch of the latest iPhone and we are thrilled that Spark will be among the first in the world to deliver the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus to our customers,” says Clive Ormerod, Spark customer and marketing GM. 

“When you combine these new devices with our Unlimited mobile plan and our Rollover plans and packs, we think it’s a great time to be with Spark.”

Vodafone New Zealand also announced it will offer the new generation iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.

Vodafone customers will be able to pre-order iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus from tonight, from the Vodafone website and Vodafone stores, and both will be available in stores starting on September 22.

Matt Williams, Vodafone consumer director, says the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are the perfect partners for New Zealand’s leading mobile network.

“Customers have been eagerly waiting for the iPhone 8 and 8 Plus, and they won’t be disappointed,” Williams says.

Vodafone is offering customers the iPhone 8 from $50 a month interest-free over 24 months, on a $59.99 monthly plan with a $49 deposit.

This plan comes with 10GB of data.

Vodafone is also offering the iPhone 8 on the Red+ $129.99, 24-month plan, with a deposit of $449.

That comes with 17.5GB of data.

Both Spark and Vodafone have also announced that the iPhone X will be available for pre-order on October 27, and available from November 3. 

The iPhone X features an all-glass design with a 5.8-inch Super Retina display, A11 Bionic chip, wireless charging, an improved rear camera with dual optical image stabilization and Face ID, enabled by the new TrueDepth camera.

iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus are a new generation of iPhone featuring a new glass and aluminium design in three finishes - space grey, silver and a new gold - made with the most durable glass ever in a smartphone, Retina HD displays, A11 Bionic chip and is designed for the ultimate augmented experience.

The popular camera gets an upgrade and wireless charging brings a new capability to iPhone.

The iPhone 8 Plus features dual 12-megapixel cameras and introduces Portrait mode with Portrait Lighting, bringing studio lighting effects to iPhone, allowing customers to capture portraits with a shallow depth of field effect in five different lighting styles.
